da betobet: Loads of Leeds fans have been running the rule over a big setback for the club, as Kemar Roofe suffered knee ligament damage in the win over Swansea.
What’s the word?
Roofe is expected to miss considerable time with a knee ligament injury, Phil Hay of the Yorkshire Evening Post reports.
The ex-Oxford United ace has slammed in 14 Championship goals for the Whites this season, and while Hay says the club expect him back before the end of the season, it seems unlikely that he will play a significant role in the run-in.
So with crucial clashes against the likes of West Brom, Bristol City and Sheffield United all to come in March, how do Leeds cope with Roofe’s injury? Let’s see what the fans think…
Brown’s time to shine
The first option seems to be the most obvious, with some fans calling on Izzy Brown to step up.
The 22 year-old has not played a single minute of senior football for Leeds since signing for the club on loan last summer, but has been performing well for the Under-23 side as he nears full fitness.
Brown certainly has the star quality, craft and guile to play just off of Patrick Bamford and create tons of chances for the big front man, though it remains to be seen if he can get fit.
Use the kids
Plenty of fans are calling for Marcelo Bielsa to turn to the youth, something he has already shown he is not afraid to do.
Youngsters like Jack Clarke and Jamie Shackleton have impressed when handed their chances, so could Ryan Edmondson be the next man up?
The 17 year-old has made two brief cameos in the Championship, but has been in excellent form for the youth sides, and would surely pounce at the chance to support Bamford and Tyler Roberts in the senior striking ranks.
An unlikely return
Finally, some fans are thinking outside of the box for a solution, suggesting the club bring back some of their loan players.
The Whites sent a whopping 11 players out on loan last summer, per Transfermarkt, and that did include three forward players – Caleb Ekuban, Jay-Roy Grot and Hadi Sacko.
Considering the trio have combined for just four Leeds goals in the Championship, this really would be a last resort, though Grot must surely be top of the list if one is re-called, as the youngster has the most room to improve under Bielsa.
So, Leeds fans, do you agree with any of the fan solutions above? How will you cope with the Roofe injury? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
