da roleta: Jurgen Klopp must empower the Liverpool board to make a move for Adrien Rabiot in January, after Barcelona were forced to deny tapping up the Frenchman.
What’s the word?
da apostebet: Rabiot has been linked with clubs around Europe since the 23-year-old refused to sign a new contract at Paris Saint-Germain.
The 6-cap international is claimed to have turned his nose up to a fourth improved offer by the Ligue 1 side, that would have seen him net €9million a year plus bonuses.
Instead, the £45million rated midfielder has his heart set on earning an annual salary of €10million a year – £9.1million – plus lucrative bonuses spread throughout a long-term contract – Rabiot’s deal at PSG expires in June and is now available to negotiate a pre-contract with clubs around Europe.
Barcelona are the side most linked to signing Rabiot, whether in the summer or in January, but relations between the La Liga giants and Paris Saint-Germain are tense following years of threats to activate the release clause before eventually pulling the plug on Neymar’s deal.
The most recent episode of the Barca-PSG saga saw the La Liga leaders issue an official statement denying they had reached an agreement with Rabiot for the midfielder to join, although they did confirm firm interest in doing so.
FFC’s James Jones has identified the one thing that could cost Liverpool the title. Find out what it is in the video below…
Liverpool must make a move
Liverpool have been linked with the 6 foot 2 box-to-box midfielder previously, with L’Equipe recently claiming, via reporting by Sport Witness, that several meetings have been held between the two parties.
Barcelona officially denying that a deal has been reached should give the Reds and Klopp all the push they need to force through a deal in January, and further set the Merseyside outfit to finally clinch their first Premier League trophy.
PSG may be more open to the Anfield outfit snapping up their player now to prevent Rabiot from moving to the Catalan club, and a deal could be on the cards at €10million if ESPN’s sources are correct.
The 23-year-old will add further winning experience to the side to join the likes of Fabinho’s Monaco glory days, and bring a gifted individual to challenge Naby Keita and Georginio Wijnaldum as the Guinean continues to adapt to the English leagues.
