da dobrowin: Southampton winger Nathan Redmond took to his official Twitter account on Thursday evening to deny an earlier story from The Sun that Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola had launched a foul-mouthed tirade at him following the final whistle of the match between the two clubs on Wednesday night.
da luck: The Sun had claimed that a lip-reader had identified that Guardiola was swearing at Redmond after the game finished 2-1 at the Ethiad Stadium, but the 23-year-old says that the Spaniard was just complimenting him and asking why he didn’t play with as much freedom as he did the previous season.
The one-time capped England international added: “I told him I was doing what my manager had asked me to do in the game.”
Southampton supporters were quick to have their say on the statement via social media, and some weren’t impressed with Redmond’s comments about Pellegrino, believing it was a sly dig at the Argentine.
While one believes it was a ‘bit of a back-hander’, another said he “doesn’t come over as supportive of his own manager”.
