At times the journalists and other parties are on the wrong and some other times the managers resort to outbursts which are uncalled for.
Football FanCast remembers ten of the most famous outbursts by managers that participated or are currently participating in the Premier League.
ARSENE WENGER
The Frenchman’s 17-year-tenure at Arsenal never lacked a clash between him and the press. Last season the Gunners were preparing for a second leg Champions League match against Bayern and the 63-year-old manager was in absolutely no mood to talk about anything else other than the upcoming match.
Reporters would ask him about whether or not his contract will be renewed and focused more on the team’s elimination from the FA Cup which frustrated Le Professeur. In return, Wenger would be ironic when asked if he desires to win the Champions League.
Upon finally being asked about the upcoming game the Gunners’ manager said: “I don’t talk about Munich today”, which was pretty contradictive from his part.
The journalists’ questions seemed pretty reasonable but fair do’s also go to Wenger as no one likes speculation or rumours, especially the wrong kind.
Memorable quote: “I have won four times the FA Cup. Who has won it more? Give me one name.”
SIR ALEX FERGUSON
Lets’ take you back to memory lane and more specifically two years ago. During the 2011-2012 season things didn’t go very well for Manchester United as they didn’t manage to win any title and lost the League to rivals Manchester City. To make things worse, the former European champions were eliminated from the Champions League group stage.
Back in November of that year the Red Devils drew Benfica 2-2 at Old Trafford and the legendary gaffer heard a journalist saying that his squad is struggling in Europe, something that didn’t sit well with Fergie.
The former manager then got frustrated and walked out of the press conference as he obviously disagreed with that observation. Nevertheless, Man United lost the next fixture to Basel and got eliminated from the Champions League, so it looks like the club was indeed struggling at that group. Keep in mind that United also managed to win just two matches, drew three and lost one.

JOSE MOURINHO
The Chelsea manager had a pretty turbulent time at Real Madrid as he had some extremely competitive matches with Barcelona, developed some pretty shaky relationships in the dressing room and also had to deal with the media reminding him when something didn’t go well.
But the Special One would lash out on everyone in April 2011 with his unforgettable ‘Por que’ speech. Real Madrid lost 2-0 to Barcelona at the first leg of the Champions League semi-finals at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, where Mourinho and Pepe were sent off, and the 50-year-old insinuated that there was a plot for Barca to win the competition.
The press conference saw the Merengues’ manager pointing at a number of people and organisations such as UEFA, Pep Guardiola, referees such as Wolfgang Stark, Tom Henning Ovrebo, Massimo Busacca, Frank De Bleeckere and even UNICEF.
The second leg match ended in a 1-1 draw that sent the Catalans to face Manchester United at Wembley. Mourinho would get his revenge a year later when Real Madrid won La Liga.

ROY KEANE
Roy Keane has served the Premier League both as a player and as a manager. The 42-year-old managed Sunderland at the Premier League but we are going to concentrate on a post-match interview he had during his time at Ipswich Town.
Back in October 2009 the Tractor Boys lost to Barnsley which marked their tenth consecutive winless match. Ipswich were at the bottom of the Championship table which made the reporter wonder whether the Irishman would be staying at the club for long.
After a short pause Keane said that he refuses to answer that question with a very serious expression drawn on his face and a stare that could pierce right through anyone. The journalist insisted but still got nothing out of the former Manchester United player.
Perhaps the journalist should not have kept asking that question as managers don’t like discussing these sorts of issues especially when they make it clear that they don’t want to.

RAFA BENITEZ
Rafa Benitez joined Chelsea last season during a tough time for the Blues as they had just been eliminated from the Champions League which they had won last year.
Ever since returning to the Premier League he would be greeted with a lot of disapproval by a large group of fans because of his Liverpool history and would be referred to by the media as the Chelsea interim manager.
The current Napoli manager though lashed out during the post-match press conference after Chelsea beat Middlesbrough in the FA Cup fifth round last March. He said that the fans are not helping with their jeers, the term ‘interim’ manager was a mistake and that he would be leaving by the end of the season.
The Spaniard kept his word as he indeed left Stamford Bridge with his head held high nevertheless as he won the Europa League and finished Chelsea on third place which led to a Champions League automatic qualification.
It could be argued that the 53-year-old had good reasons to be frustrated as a manager of his caliber should never be referred to as the interim manager and he was constantly facing an endless war against him even when the team was performing well.

IAN HOLLOWAY
Before Crystal Palace qualified for the Premier League Ian Holloway had an outburst regarding former Eagles’ forward Wilfried Zaha’s future at Selhurst Park last January.
The Palace gaffer made it clear that he hated the winter transfer window and all the talks and speculations that surround it every year.
The 50-year-old was obviously thirsty and clearly in no mood to discuss the Zaha issue and the rumours supporting that he will be joining Manchester United. The manager would have a proper go at the journalists and asked them to get a life while his phone would go off and something seemed to have gotten stuck in his teeth.
The reporters didn’t seem very intimidated by the coach who obviously looked like he was trying to say something more than what he actually said. For the record though, Zaha did join United and played the rest of the season on loan for Palace.
Memorable quote: “Take my message dear? Yeah, I should hope so”.
HARRY REDKNAPP
Harry Redknapp made quite a name for himself as a manager with Tottenham but also had quite a rant after Sky reporter Rob Palmer called him a ‘wheeler dealer’.
It was a bad day for Spurs and Arry as the team lost to Wigan at home three years ago and after listening to the reporter joyfully throwing out that characterisation the current Queens Park Rangers’ coach unleashed a sweary wrath upon him.
The former Spurs’ manager then exited the shot while the reporter was trying to get back on his good side but it was too late as Redknapp took a lot of offence on that tag. Arry would just continue arguing with Palmer while numerous F-bombs would start exploding behind the camera.
Can’t say the manager was on the wrong end of this, but perhaps parents would like to switch off the TV after the matches.

RON ATKINSON
‘Big Ron’ was having trouble back in 1996 as his team Coventry were on the relegation zone and it seemed like it was time for the Sky Blues to bid the League farewell.
After a defeat from Southampton the Coventry coach would give an interview to Sky Sports’ Richard Keys and Andy Grey where he tried to avoid talking about any relegation scenarios and instead tried to draw a nice picture of the situation.
The former Manchester United coach got very upset over Keys’s questions that led him to throw his head phones which accidentally landed on someone. The now 74-year-old obviously looked sorry about it and we can assume he just had some bad aim.
For the record though Coventry did manage to survive as Manchester City relegated instead but ‘Big Ron’ made quite a reputation eight years later.

KEVIN KEEGAN
During the same year Newcastle and Manchester United were racing for the top and it seems like pressure hit the Toon’s coach Kevin Keegan.
The Magpies’ gaffer lost his temper during a post-match interview for Sky Sports after his squad beat Leeds away.
The now 62-year-old looked calm at first but all of a sudden threw a tantrum on the Red Devils’ coach Sir Alex Ferguson as he was apparently bothered with the Scot’s conduct and then said that he would love it if the North-London-club prevailed over Man United.
For the record, the Red Devils won the League that season and Keegan would leave St. James’s Park the following year and would coach the England national two years later.
The former England boss has proven to be a good sport about that meltdown as he took part in a fragrance commercial last season, ahead of the Capital One Cup final, which parodied his rant in 1996.

ROBERTO MANCINI
Roberto Mancini has made quite a name for himself in the Premier League as the Manchester City coach. He is also no stranger to success as he has won the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Community Shield but he is also no stranger to controversy.
The 48-year-old had a heated argument with Aston Villa’s coach Paul Lambert last year during a Capital One Cup match where the Citizens lost 4-2 at the Etihad Stadium. He later blasted at the post-match press conference after being asked about him.
The Italian obviously looked upset and tired, as he said later, by his stance and said that Lambert’s attitude towards him represented the exact same behavior other managers have shown to him.
Perhaps the former Man City coach was also tired of more things in the Premier League than just the managers as his last season in the UK was perhaps the most turbulent.
