Celtic’s most recent signing may really be from the bottom of the pile though, or at least that’s what some fans think after they uncovered a transfer report from 2018.
Celtic Gossip’s tweet from August 2018 reveals the Hoops were interested in Bauer last summer, and there was indeed concrete links to the Austria international while Brendan Rodgers was still at the club.
Loads of fans have been discussing the 27 year-old’s arrival, and despite him filling a position that desperately needed reinforcements after a summer of exits, they aren’t too optimistic that he is the man to replace the trophy-laden Mikael Lustig.
The fact that the club have landed on someone they targeted 12 months ago has set alarm bells ringing amongst the Parkhead faithful, while others are simply doubting his ability considering he hasn’t broken into a Stoke side sitting bottom of the Championship.
