It is now surely only a matter of time before Liverpool lift the Premier League title.
The Reds are currently 22 points clear at the top of the table, which is the biggest leading margin in the history of English football’s top tier. Jurgen Klopp’s men have been far and away the best team in the country so far this term – that is because they have been just too good for the rest of the competition.
Can you name the result these iconic Liverpool images belong to? Give it a go now…
Well, to everyone else other than Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva. The £90m-valued Portugal international – as per Transfermarkt – has been talking to Sky Sports about the Citizens’ lacklustre defence of their title this term, and he believes that it is down to the fact that the holders have not had the rub of the green. He explained: “If you look at the stats, we’re still the team that creates the most chances, scores the most goals but in the important moments, we’ve not been as lucky as in the past seasons. We always concede in the last minute, Liverpool always scores in the last minutes and these little details in football make the difference. The team just has to try and find the balance.”
Dave O’Connell shared a tweet with the comments, and it has led to plenty of reaction from the Anfield outfit’s supporters.
Some have found his quotes rather funny.
You can fully understand the reaction. After all, why would they need to take Silva’s comments seriously with such a big lead at the top?
Others, meanwhile, have suggested that a 22-point gap can not be purely down to luck.
It is hard to argue with that. Whether it be one point or 22, the best team will lift the title over the course of a 38-game season – it is unlikely that City will have been complaining about misfortune when they were crowned champions on the final day of the last campaign.

Others, meanwhile, believe you make your own luck.
Again, it is hard to disagree. When you have won 24 out of 25 matches, it will sometimes look as though things have gone your way, but that is only because Liverpool have been putting themselves in situations where their endeavour and desire has paid off. It all balances itself out, anyway.
Meanwhile, this Liverpool youngster could be Jordan Henderson’s long-term successor.
